The Utah Hockey Club fell in overtime to the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 on Wednesday. While the home team failed to secure two points in the standings, fans were treated not only to an appearance by future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby, but a game winner in the bonus period by Sid The Kid. It may be noteworthy to mention that both Crosby and his longtime NHL counterpart, Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin, both scored goals in their first games played at Delta Center.
That was the on-ice action, the story off the ice was the announcement that the perceived favorite for Utah’s permanent name, Yeti, had been ruled out of the running. Replacing Yeti was Wasatch, a way for the team to still utilize the “mythical snow creature” logo that ownership had been working on for months. Austin Facer was in the Delta Center for the new round of in-arena fan voting, and reports on what he saw in this episode of SLC Puck.
