The Utah Mammoth — with smiles on many of the players’ faces — hit the ice to kick off preseason action in Colorado on Sunday for a split-squad matchup in a pair of games against the Avalanche. Despite dropping both the contests, SLC Puck host Austin Facer was encouraged by what he saw out of a few players, primarily veteran forward Lawson Crouse. ‘The Sheriff’ dropped the gloves twice in the third period of the second game, showing his trademark strong leadership and physically, something Facer to see more of from Crouse heading into potential bounceback season.
