The Utah Mammoth will officially break in their brand-new practice facility at South Town Mall this week, as players return to the Beehive State after the offseason. With preseason puck drop just two weeks away, the real competition is about to start but not against another NHL team, but inside their own locker room. Every rep at camp will be a battle for the few coveted spots on Utah’s opening night roster.
That battle begins with Rookie Camp. As the Mammoth ramp up preparations for the 2025–26 season, SLC Puck’s Austin Facer believes at least one former first-round pick could emerge as a dark horse to crack the NHL lineup right out of camp.
