Rookie Camp is officially underway for the Utah Mammoth. SLC Puck host Austin Facer says the real story is the battles happening within the team. General manager Bill Armstrong has said it’s his squad’s most competitive group. That internal competition, Facer believes, will set the tone for Utah once the regular season arrives.
But after two days of camp, two things stand out most to him: how surprisingly funny rookie defenseman Dmitri Simashev is, and how much size fellow blueliner Maveric Lamoureux packed on over the summer. The second-year defenseman reportedly packed in about 5,000 calories a day this summer, bulking up nearly 15 pounds in the process.
