The Utah Hockey Club registered its first ever shutout with a 6-0 blanking of the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night in Sin City. In a game of firsts, not only did recent call-up Jaxson Stauber hold Vegas scoreless, Utah also saw its first-ever goal by Alex Kerfoot and not one, but two goals by Nick Schmaltz, who had been goalless up to that point.
Austin Facer, who saw the game from a packed-house watch party in downtown Salt Lake City, believes the hockey community in Utah is feeling the NHL effect in a big way. He sees hockey only getting bigger in the state, especially as the team continues to win fans over on and off the ice.
