Utah’s at home, in a building that’s been waiting for a “we’re actually good” night. The team badly needs a feel-good result, not another one-goal, point-splitting heartbreaker. If they do win, there’s a good chance it’s because the offense finally blows a game open instead of nursing a 2–1 lead. The team as been called out by its leaders. I’m expecting them to respond. If we’re wrong, we go down with our tusks pointed high. I can live with that.

3. This team sucks at faceoffs.

Expect Trocheck, one of the best faceoff centermen in hockey, to eat at the dot tonight. There’ll be plenty of chances to rack em up, especially in a close game with lots of stoppage. If Trocheck ends up in his usual 18–20 draw range and wins “just” his usual share, clearing 10 wins is absolutely on the table. The dude won 17 drops against Colorado the other night. This feels winnable. You’ll be on the edge of your seat with every puck drop tonight. How cool is that?
