MVP...The V is for Veggie and a WATCH PARTY at A Bar Named Sue
SLC Puck in your inbox! Issue #14 - Monday, 4/14/25
Hey Puckers,
Well, the Utah Hockey Club wrapped up its inaugural home schedule last week. I was doing NashCast — which was a blast by the way — so I didn’t get to enjoy all the festivities of the home finale, but I could see something very clearly through the glass windows in the Delta Center’s TV studio: everyone was smiling. Gratitude filled the air. And why wouldn’t it? We were given a gift. This season didn’t have to happen in Utah but it did. And while it wasn’t perfect, the Club didn’t end up making the playoffs, it was still a magical ride.
And you know who made it great? You. The fans. The ones who added character and life to team with no name. What is the team’s identity? It’s us. It’s the eggs, the hot tub, the Broccoli heads, the Veggie chants, that song by Shaboozie. That’s who the Utah Hockey Club is.
And like everyone I saw in the area on Thursday, I feel the same way to have played a small part in it all. Grateful.
Also — shameless plug time — watch party tonight at A Bar Named Sue on Highland Drive (3928 S Highland Dr, Millcreek, UT). 6 p.m. See you there.

Top NHL/Hockey Headlines:
JETS CLINCH PRESIDENTS’ TROPHY
The Winnipeg Jets capped off a terrific regular season by clinching the Presidents’ Trophy which goes to the team with the most points in the standings at the end of the year. I’d just note that they also surrendered 9 goals in 2 games at the Delta Center against the Utah Hockey Club this season….just saying.
THAT’S A FIRST
Blackhawks, Bruins, Rangers and Red Wings all miss the playoffs. It’s the first time in NHL history that none of those Original Six teams are in the postseason.
BRONCOS TAKE THE TITLE
Western Michigan downed Boston University to clinch the school’s first-ever national championship in the Frozen Four.
